Council Executive Committee
Alfred E. Klein, president of the Flint Jewish Community Council, has announced
the appointment of the 19'72-73 executive committee.
In making the appointments, Klein stated, "We must face and take action on a
series of challenges: Israel's continued existence; interpretation and implementation
of basic Judaic concepts in our local community; communication with our youth; ser-
vice to our seniors; Jewish education; and continuing cultural and social programs. To
meet these demands we need cohesive knowledgeable leadership in our Council. The
ability of our Council to function and our entire future lies in the decisions these ap-
pointees will make. We need a team that will work together for the good of our entire
community."

Flint's Council of Churches
Aids Defense of Soviet Jew
An "Action Sheet" urging contacts with President
Nixon, congressional and other leaders in making appeals
in defense of Soviet Jewry, has aroused such great interest
that the Christian community has volunteered to join in
the appeal for justice.
Hy Bergman, executive director of the Flint Jewish
Community Council, reported on Wednesday that the Flint
Council of Churches, having become aware of the need for
action, undertook to place 2,000 copies of the "Action
Sheet" with the names and addresses of responsible people
who are to be contacted in behalf of Russian Jewry.
The executive committee for 1972-73 consists of the following:
A major portion of the Jewish program in which the
Christian community is joining is the condemnation of the
tax on academicians and scientists who wish to emigrate
from the USSR.

Mrs. Krause has been
teaching Yoga since 1967.
She introduced the Jewish
mysticism course at Beth
Israel last year, pointing out
that evolutionary human re-
incarnation is one of the con-
cepts of Judaism.
She said the goal of her
course — both booklets and
tapes — is to improve one's
mental health through tap-
ping resources buried deeply
within Judaism.
