nouncement of a combined music
festival his congregation will hold
on April 30 together with Temple
Israel, at the Shaarey Zedek.

Cites Dr. Selik
as Top Citizen
Southfield's "first citizen" of
1971, Dr. Martin Selik, was named
"Dentist Citizen of the Year" Sun-
day at the opening session of the
Michigan Dental Association's an- '
nual four-day scientific and busi-
ness meeting in the Detroit Hilton
Hotel.
The citizen a w a rd was Presenter]
to Dr. Selik by Dr. Richard S.
Youngs of Adrian, president of the
more than 4,100-member associa-
tion.
Dr. Selik was commended for
his extensive community involve-
ment.
Dr. Youngs cited Dr. Selik's
service on the Southfield Board of
Health, his work with Providence
Hospital toward establishment of
an innovative system for emer-
gency treatment of cardiac arrest
Patients and his active interest in
the Michigan Community Blo6d
Center.
In addition, Dr. Selik is
a
member of the board of directors
of the Friends of Southfield
Public Library and has donated
time. money and an aquarium
to the library's children's sec-
tion.
Dr. Youngs continued , "His in-
: terest in children motivated him
to become active in the Upper
Teens. an organization affiliated
with Southfield High School. As
' vice president of the group, he
raised money for scholarships for
needy students by organizing and
staging the Southfield Fair. He
also was vice president of the
Lederle School PTA and an officer
of the Wedgewood Civic Associa-
tion "
Dr. Selik is a graduate of the
Um, ersity of Detroit School of
Dentistry :Ind 1 , a member
\lpha Omega and Omicron kappa
Upsilon.
