Center to Gain From

Completion of a learning re-
sources center is the goal of
Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood's ma-
jor fund-raising event, "World
of Bess Myerson.• set for 10 a.m.

dent Mrs. Murray Shekter, the
learning resources center brings

recording system.

JFCS 'Helpline'
Extended to Daily,
24-Hour Schedule

Mrs. Joseph H. Jackier, chair-
man of the volunteer services corn-
mittee of Jewish Family and Chil-
dren's Service, announced that
the "Helpline" of the agency is
now in operation seven days a ,
week, 24 hours a day.
"Helpline" is a telephone
manned by JFCS-trained volun-
teers. The line is an attempt by
the agency to reach out to people
with problems who may need re-
ferral to a professional agency or
who are just lonely and want some- !
one to talk to. "Helpline" also in-
volves driving a person who is all
alone, without family or friend, to
a medical appointment or shop-
ping. "Helpline" volunteers try to 1
assist in whatever way they can
to ease the burdens of those who
are alone.
