Ilebreu- Month
to Honor Golda
April 15 - May 13 has been
designated Hebrew Month for
1972 by its sponsor, Histadrut
Isrith Hebrew Language and Cul-
ture Association of America.
As in the past, the Hebrew
Month focuses on the life of a
major Jewish personality. This
year, it is dedicated to Prime
Minister Golda Meir of Israel.

branches of American Jewry.
The materials being provided in-
clude a biography of Mrs. Meir,
by Shoshana Perla, writer and
educator. The 32-page booklet is
available in Hebrew and English.
The Jewish Child Care Associ-
ation, formed in 1940, was a
consolidation of several earlier
institutions. Most of the agencies
have closed. The Hebrew Orphan
Asylum was founded in 1860.
Buchwald revealed that one of
his childhood fantasies was about
"just such an affair" as the
brunch he was now addressing. "I
saw myself standing on a podium
telling about the struggles of my
childhood and how I overcame
them-. I particularly liked the part
where I gave myself a standing
ovation."
The audience of 400—including
alumni, long-time foster parents
and agency, civic and community
leaders—obliged Buchwald. All of
them rose to applaud the former
foster child.

Trepper's defense here was un-
dertaken by Perrault, the author of
a book on the "Red Orchestra."
In his Le Monde letter, Perrault
accused Rochet of using portions
of the book out of context to sup-
port charges against Trepper.
Perrault came to Trepper's de-
fense in an article published in
the current issue of the French
weekly Le Nouvel Observateur.
He maintained that had Trepper
been a Gestapo collaborator he
would not claim the right to go to
Israel .
Seven per cent of the respon-
dents were opposed to such a deal
and 11 per cent were "not sure."
