Zaryit Settlers Return;
May Try New Tactics

TEL AVIV (JTA) — The settlers
of Zaryit who deserted their village
in Upper Galilee in protest against
harsh economic conditions. began
returning Sunday night. Part of the
39 families are already back in
their homes.
The residents of the border vil-
lage did not win their demand
for better land to cultivate. But
they are reportedly con .sidering
more practical ways to solve their
problem than the mass desertion.
A new committee was elected to
consider future/ measures.

Weizman Not Guilty
in Fatal Auto Accident

TEL AVIV (JTA)—A three-judge
court found Herut leader Ezer
Weizman not guilty of causing the
death of a pedestrian as a result
of reckless driving.
However, the court fined him $70
for exceeding the speed limit by
five miles per hour. A car driven
by Gen. Weizman, former Israel
Air Force commander, struck and
killed a man in a suburban street.
The court found that under the
circumstances he could not have
prevented the accident.
