post, Ambassador Softer was the
envoy to Chad. He had previously
served in the research department
of the Israel Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. -
Born in Baghdad, he came to
Israel in 1950 at age 16. Softer
was awarded a law degree by Tel
Aviv University and a BA degree
in economics and political science
from the Hebrew University and
MISS SANDRA ZARKIN
studied industrial administration in
Mr. and Mrs. ferry Zarkin of Paris.

The , sixth annual Bnai Brith
Presidents' Brunch will' be held 10
a.m. April 23 at Cong. Beth Abra-
ham-HilleL
Participants will be the mem-
bers of the 24 Biuti Brith lodges
and _25 Baal Drith, women's chap-
ters compriiiiniv.the .Metropolitan.
Detroit Bnai Brith councils.
The event; which is held in co-
.operation with the Jewish National
Fund, serves to honor the presi-
dents of the men's and women's
councils, as well as the lodge and
chapter presidents for their efforts
on behalf of the Bnai Brith Israel
program. Recognition also will be
given to the ' Bnai Brith Martyrs
Forest chairmen.
Admission to the brunch is by
nominal donation, plus the plant-
ing of at least one tree.

Father Kramer Council Knights of
Columbus of Centerline held their
fifth annual brotherhood bowling
tournament recently at Oak Park
Lanes. Proceeds from the tourna-
ment, won by the Kramer Council,
went to buy two wheelchairs for
the- Plymouth State home. Mrs.
Phillip Sills and Peter Schweitzer
accepted the gift.
