The dough
cup Warm water
1 - pkgs. active dry yeast
1,9 cup warm milk

1/2 cup - melted butter
tsp._, vanilla_ extract

1/2 CUP ground MILS
1/2 cup chopped prunes
2- Ulu. bread. crumbs
1 this. lemon juice
L In a large mixing bowl dissolve the
yeast in the water. 'Add milk and
sugar and let stand for a few min-
utes. Add salt; half of the flour, and
eggs, stirring well till smooth.' Let
rest for 10 minutes.
L Adth the vanilla extract, butter and
more of the, remaining flour. Khead
till you can handle the dough, adding
- more flower if necessary. Knead about
eight minutes until the dough is
smooth and elastic.
3. In a clean bowl put a few drops of
oil to grease the whole surface. Place
the doug h and turn it once to grease
the top. Let it stand for 90 minutes
in a. warm corner of the kitchen,
covered with a clean kitchen towel.
Punch down and let rise .again for
43 minutes.
4. Boll out the dough as thin as you
- ern. Cut out rounds of four inches in
diameter. Put filling in the center
and pinch the edges - flrmly.Molsten
with some egg white to help keep it
closed. Pinch the edges so a triangle
shape is formed.

5. Put the hamantashen on a cookie
sheet. Brush tops with some milk.
Bake at a moderate oven 323 degrees
F. for about 30 minutes, or till they
are golden brown.
Yield—about 3 dozen.

will hold its annual Spring -Festival
and luncheon" noon Thursday at

Mayor Feder Is
Man of Year to
Oakland- Century
- Southfield Mayor Norman W.
Feder will be honored as Oakland
Century Lodge's "man of the
year" at its second annual Israel
dinner-dance 7 p.m. March -14 at
Town and Country Club. •
Mayor Feder is being honored
for his 25 years of service to Bnai
Brith, Israel and his community.
Ambassador Ovadia Soffer, Is-
rael emissary to the UN, will be
guest speaker.
A native Detroiter, Mayor Feder
received his law degree from
Wayne State University in 1940. He
has been practicing law for over
31 years and served as national
chancellor of Tau Epsilon iRho Law
fraternity.
Mayor • Feder served on the
Southfield Board of Zoning Ap-
peals until he was elected to the
Southfield City.. Council in 1965
and was president of the council
for two years. He was elected
mayor in April 1969 and re-elect-
ed two years later.
Mayor Feder, who has been
affiliated with Bnai Brith for a
quarter century,-is a charter mem-
ber of Oakland Century Lodge,
has been a member of Shaarey
Zedek for many years and is on
the board of its Men's Club. lie
and his wife, Helen have two chil-
dren
