`Law of Return'
Not for This Bunch
Israel Decides

TEL AVIV—Three undesirables
from America got the gate last
weekend when Israel barred their
entry on the basis of information
that they were planning a confer-
ence of alleged underworld figures
from North America.
Yitzhak Agassi, a spokesman,
said "Israel will not be used as a
ground for conferences of crim-
inals." He added that other per-
sons of similar ilk would be bar-
red as well.
TWO Americans, Bernard Rose,
50, and Benjamin Sigelbaum, 68;
and a Canadian, Jacob Marcus, 38,
were ordered to leave Israel after
they landed at Lod International
Airport separately last week.
Each was put on an outgoing air-
liner a few hours after arrival,
said Agassi.
He intimated that the three in-
tended to meet with reputed
underworld gambling czar Meyer
Lansky, who is in Israel as a
tourist.

Rockefeller was called upon by
Agudath Israel of America to sign
a bill that would limit the use of
the term "kosher style" to products
that actually are kosher.
Rabbi Moshe Sherer, executive
president of the organization, urged
that he sign the bill into law in
order to "halt the deceptive prac-
tice of certain non-kosher estab-
lishments and food producers who
have cleverly used the label of
`kosher style' to misrepresent to
the observant Jew their products

The bill, sponsored by State Sen.
Paul E. Bookson and Assembly-

supported by the legislative com-
mission of Agudath Israel from its

Quebec Jews, Caught
in Middle, 'Should Back
French Canadians'

Community" at the Theodor Herzl
Institute here. "The Jewish leaders
in Quebec have adopted a policy
of silence with regard to the Sepa-
ratist movement," he said. "This
`wait-and-see' attitude seems to be
the answer of the majority of Que-
bec Jews as well."
Privately, however, Jews express
fear, so much so, that some of
them, like other non-French Cana-
dians, are thinking of moving out
of the province.
According to Gladstone, "the
ideal solution would be to prepare
for aliya, but since Quebec Jews
are not likely to do that, I feel that
they must accept the French
reality."

NEW YORK (JTA) — A Jewish
educator and youth leader from
Montreal believes that Jews in
Quebec province should support
the struggle of French Canadians
for self determination and try to
understand their legitimate griev-
ances.
According to Yaakov Gladstone,
community coordinator of the Cen-
ter for Russian Jewry in New York
and former executive director of
Hatzaad Harishon, Jews find them-
selves caught in the middle of the
polarization taking place between
the English and French Canadians.
Gladstone spoke on "French Se-
