Sharon Dombey Bride

MRS. DAVID BASEMAN

Sharen Rose Dombey and Da-
vid Alan Baseman were married
in a ceremony at Young Israel
Center of Oak-Woods with Rabbis
James I. Gordon and Hayim Donin
officiating.
The new Mrs. Baseman is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David
Dombey of Park St., Oak Park,
and Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Base-
man of Rosemary Ave., Oak Park.
Lynn Dombey served her sister
as maid of honor, and attendants
were Margie Gale, Mrs. Barry
Jeross, Mrs. Al Keene and Marilyn
Pitt. Ushers were Burt Rosenthal
and Ricky Schwartz. Barry Berlin
served as best man. -
After a trip to Toronto, the
couple will reside in Southfield.

NCJW Strengthens Program
to Aid Senior Citizens

NEW YORK (JTA)—The Nation-
al Council of Jewish Women an-
nounced that it would strengthen
its existing • senior citizen aid pro-
grams in anticipation of federal
budget cuts that threaten the fund-
ing of the Administration on Aging.
' Mrs. Earl Marvin, president of
the service organization, urged
volunteer organizations to take up
the lag between social need and
legislative action.

in Other Lands at Jewish National Fund Dinner
in Honor of Mrs. Morris Adler Next Thursday

Robert St. John, eminent author
and lecturer, who will be the guest
speaker at the annual dinner of the
Jewish National Fund 6:30 p.m.
Thursday at Cong. Shaarey Zedek,
this week returned from another
extensive overseas tour. He will
bring a report on his experiences
in Israel and his visits to other
Jewish communities.
In London, St. John, who was
accompanied by his wife, Ruth,
continued his research on the biog-
raphy of Israel Foreign Minister
Abba Eban, his forthcoming book
to be published by Doubleday.
St. John also visited Yugoslavia,
Portugal and other countries.
Writing to the editor of The Jew-
ish News from Portugal, one of the
countries he has just visited, St.
John stated: "The Jewish situation
here is most interesting. There are
only 600 Jewish souls in the entire
country. There are two active
synagogues and much integra-
tion.."
Proceeds from the JNF dinner
will go toward the planting of
the Rabbi Morris and Goldie
Adler Forest in Israel.
Participants in Thursday's din-
ner program will include the chair-
man, Philip Slomovitz; Louis Berry,
Alan Schwartz and Rabbis Irwin
Groner, Moses Adler and Leon
Fram.
The annual JNF dinner will rec-
ognize the tireless efforts for Is-
rael, the JNF, Cong. Shaarey
Zedek and many other Jewish as
well as civic causes by Goldie_Adler
and her late husband, Rabbi Mor-
ris Adler.

Shalom Club Sets
2nd Singles Party

Shalom, the new social club for
single men and women, age 21-
39, will hold its second narty June
27 at Alvaro's.
Marlene Brown, executive direc-
tor of Shalom, said 268 young
adults attended the first party last
month, and she hopes they'll be
back to hear and dance to a new
band, the American Scene.
The club, which has a mailing
list of 350, plans a party a month,
plus trips to places of interest.
Miss Brown sees the possibility
of a charter trip to Europe.
