"THREESOME"

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao — This
Caribbean island, rich in Jewish
history, was host to a large group
of American Jews who spent the
Passover holidays here.
More than 250 members of • the
Long Island Hebrew Institute ar
rived at the Curacao Inter-Conti-
nental Hotel April 8.
Although an out-of-the-way Carib-
bean resort may seem an unlikely
place to spend the Passover holi-
days, the New York group found
it charming.
The week-long religious services
were the first use made of the
hotel's new Penthouse Tower. The
hotel management—to assure suc-
cess of the visit—brought a me-
chanic all the way from Switzer-
land to modify the hotel's elevator.
This enabled it to run from the
ground floor all the way up to the
lower without having to be touched
by human hands.
Traditional sedorim were held
in the dining hall, with all the food
and wine under the supervision of
tour conductor, Rabbi Aaron Gel-
man.
In addition to the religious serv-
ices, the hotel arranged other
activities during the group's 10-
day stay on the island.
During the tour the guests were
able to visit the Mikve Israel
Synagogue, the oldest Jewish house
of worship in the Western Hemi-
-;phere, built in 1732.
An excursion also was made to
