N.Y. Boys Foster Home
Initiates Placements

NEW YORK (JTA) — The Ohel
Children's Home in Brooklyn, the
only Orthodox residence facility
for troubled boys in the United
States, has announced it has been
licensed by the New York State
Department of Social Services to
operate a foster home placement
program, also the first under Or-
thodox auspices.
Rabbi Hertz Frankel, Ohel presi-
dent, said the accreditation would
„help to resolve a long-standing
problem for the Orthodox commun-
ity. Until now, he told the Jewish
Telegraphic Agency, that com-
munity had been "totally depen-
dent" on non-Orthodox social agen-
cies for help in foster home place-
ments.
