JERUSALEM (JTA) — The Ger-
man government agreed this week
to grant Israel 140,000,000 marks
(more than $38,000,000) in econ-
omic aid for 1970.
The money will be used for new
housing projects, telephone net-
works, development of Lod Airport
and for loans to be issued by the
Industrial Development Bank.
This is the sixth consecutive year
that Israel has received such an
amount from Germany.

separate three - week sessions in
July and August, and intensive
single - session language courses
lasting for up to six weeks. The
courses are on the regular Hebrew
University level, and the teaching
faculty includes some of Israel's
foremost authorities in various
fields.
Most of the 800 students taking
part in the program this year
are from the United States, in-
cluding contingents from the
State University of New York,
Columbia University and Rut-

There are, however, some stu-

Sweden and other European
countries.
The summer courses, which aim
to give the students an insight into
the Israeli way of life, language,
history and culture, are open to
undergraduate and graduate stu-
dents as well as to adults with an
academic background, who this
year include several teachers, rab-
bis and professors.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.—Simon H.
Fabian, former president of a mo-

merate, died Sunday at age 71.
Mr. Fabian began his career in
northern New Jersey, where he and
his father, Jacob, built a circuit of
theaters, which they sold to War-
ner Brothers in 1926.
He became a member of the
Warner Brothers board of direc-
tors and in 1953 acquired control
of the concern's entire theater
chain.
The chain later became a sep-
arate company, the Stanley War-
