Forest Honors British Chief Rabbi Jakobovits
MA'ALOT — Dr. Immanuel Ja-Ireland, with the planting of a
kobovits, chief rabbi of the British forest in his name at Ma'alot in
Commonwealth, was honoreed by Western Galilee. Dr. Jacobovitk is
the JNF Commission of Dublin, a former chief rabbi of Ireland.
Sol King, president of Albert
Kahn Associates, has been named
architect for the nine-story Wash-
ington Post building and for the
modernization of the present
plant.
The project is • to be completed
by King and his associates in
about two years at an estimated
cost of $14,000,000.
Joachim Nachbar has been add-
ed to the firm of Kahn Associates
as vice president. He has served
the form as chief mechanical en-
gineer for 21 years.

ADL Reports Active Anti-Semitism
of Ultra-Right -Left, Black Extremists

NEW YORK (JTA) — The An-
ti-DefamatiOn League of Bnai
Brith has reported "three major
manifestations of anti-Jewish atti-
tudes in the United States."
According to the ADL, they exist
"on the radical right, from
sources which have been suspect
over the years but until recently
have kept their anti-Jewish atti-
tudes obscured from public view,"
"among minority extremist ele-
ments within the black community
which have reacted to white ra-
cism with a racism all their own";
and "among extreme left groups
which eschew the racist form of
anti-Sernitism, but taking their cue
from the Soviet and Chinese
worlds, nevertheless heap virulent
abuse on Israel and all those who
look with favor- on the Jewish
State."
The John Birch Society was
mentioned by the ADL as an ex-
ample of rightist organizational
anti-Semites
The "black minority extremist
elements" listed include the Black
Panthers, the Black Muslims and
the African-American Student As-
sociation.
"Extreme left" anti-Semites,
according to the ADL, include
the Weathermen faction of Stu-
dents for a Democratic Society,
Revolutionary Youth Movement
II, the Young Workers Libera-
tion Leave (Comonanist Party),
the Y. Socialist Alliance
(Trotskyist Socialist Workers
Party) and the Maoist Progres-
sive r ale..r Party.
Saphir Says Israel
Seeks Co-Existence
NEW YORK (JTA)—Joseph Sa-
phir, Israel's minister of trade
and industry, declared here that
"We are prepared to grasp any
opportunity to end the war which
costs us dearly, but not at the
epense of our security and future."
Saphir was the principal speaker

can Israel Clamber of Commerce

Waldorf Astoria: 'We have de-
clared many times again and
again that we are prepared to
sit door and talk peace and find
a means of esecistence with our
neighbors. We want to build up
a new denmeratk society that
can be am example to the whole
Middle East and the weed."

"we are facing bitter times," but
he stressed that "we are determ-
ined to survive_"
He expressed the hope that the
free world, including the United
States, would understand the role
of Israel as a bulwark "and a
dam preventing the flooding of
the Middle East by Communism."
The dinner honored Spiro P.
Skourrs, a Greek American and
a leading figure in the film indus-
try and shipping, for his contri-
bution to Jewry and Israel.
The ADL said that "although
the Birch Society's official ideology
is directed against the 'interna-
tional Communist conspiracy,' it
has always mainifested certain
anti-Semitic symptoms, such as
harboring known anti-Semities in
its leadership and ranks and sell-
ing anti-Semitic literature through
some of its bookstores. "
The ADL further noted that
"Now there are other signs e.g.
the theory that Jewish bankers
and Jewish financiers are the
secret manipulators behind wars
and the source of all of this coun-
try's economic and monetary ills,
as spelled out in the Birch So-
ciety's official publication (Amer-
ican Opinion) and by an official
nationwide lecturer of the organ-
ization (Stuart Crane)."
The ADL describes the Panthers,
the Muslims and the African-Amer-
ican Student Association as among
those "black extremist groups
which have become purveyors of
pro-Arab, anti-Israel propaganda
of the most blatant variety and
often with a zeal that can only
be compared with the worst gutter-
level anti-Semitism."

that "On the extreme left . .
there is a concerted, energetic
campaign of intense hostility to-
ward Israel, and active support
of El Fath and other guerrilla
groups being pressed—especially
on university campuses . . . The
Young Socialist Alliance is the
most active anti-Israel organiza-
tion on the campus today."
