Conservative Sisterhoods' Parley Next Week

Representatives from the 16
Conservative sisterhoods affiliated
with the Michigan Branch of the
National Women's League, United
Synagogue of America, will con-
vene at the annual conference
Monday and Tuesday at Cong. Beth
Moses.
Following registration and con-
tinental breakfast, the conference
will open with Mrs. Herman Roth,
president of Michigan Branch, set-
ting the theme for "In Thy Light
Do We See Light."
Keynote speaker at the morning
session Monday will be Philip
Slomovitz discussion "Complacency
. .. Panic .. . Solidarity." Follow-
ing lunch, the afternoon session
will feature a sociodrama on family
living, "And The Walls Came
Tumbling down," presented by
members of Cong. Shaarey Zedek,
under the chairmanship of Mrs.
Irwin Groner.

The exhibition, "We Want to
Live," presented a retrospective
look at 35 years of child rescue,
rehabilitation and education car-
ried on by Youth Aliya. It was de-
signed by Allon Schoener, and was
on view at the New York Cultural
Center.
The title was taken from a poem
written by a 12-year-old girl while
she was in the Theresienstadt con-
centration camp near Prague. All
but 100 of the 15,000 children who
were inmates of Theresienstaclt
died in gas chambers.
