Jaffa Orange Noodle Pudding Wins
a First Prize for Mrs. Man/ Kutlov

Mary Kutlov, 950 Whitmore, has
won the first prize in the Jaffa
Orange Recipe Contest for her
Jaffa Noodle Pudding, it was an-
nounced this week.
Mrs. Kutlov wins a Sony "tum-
my TV" as grand prize winner,
selected by home economists from
the Philadelphia Agency, advertis-
ing and public relations counsel of
Fisher Brothers, Inc., importers
of Jaffa Oranges.
The Philadelphia Agency, inc., is
four years old. President is Ralph
M. Feaver. In addition to Fisher
Brothers and Granny Smith Apples,
Barlinka Grapes and Pa ckh an's
Triumph Pears from the Cape of
Good Hope, the agency handles
such accounts as: Luden's, Inc.,
manufacturers of cough drops,

MRS. GETZ'S
JAFFA ORANGE FRITTERS
AND ORANGE GRAPE SAUCE
4 Jaffa oranges, peeled and cut
into 1/2-inch slices. Roll each slice
in bread crumbs and dip into frit-
ter batter below:
Bring two cups water to a boil

with 1 tsp. salt and 4 tblsp. 'but-
ter. Add 2 cups flour, and cook,
stirring until it becomes a smooth
mass that does not stick tckthe pan.
Remove from stove, and one at a
time, thoroughly beat in eggs. Cool.
Fry the coated orange slices in
deep fat. Drain on brown. paper.
Dust with powdered sugar (option-
al). Serve with orange sauce
below.
Orange - Grape Sauce
11/2 cups strained honey
3 /4 cup Jaffa orange juice
3/4 cup water
Boil 10 minutes, then add 1 cup
seedless grapes and 2 cups diced
and pitted oranges. Cook 5 min-
utes longer. Cool.

MRS. LACHMAN'S
JAFFA BLINTZES
Batter
3 /4 cup flour or cake meal (Pass-
over) pinch salt
11/4 cup water
3 eggs
1 tbsp. oil
Put ingredients in blender for
15 seconds.
Use a 5- or 6-inch black iron pan
—Select a spoon which holds en-
ough batter to fill the bottom of
the pan—Put 1 Tb. of oil in pan
and heat till very hot. Spill out
oil and put a spoonful of batter
in the pan. Roll the pan around
quickly over a moderate high heat
and spill out excess batter. When
edges begin to brown turn blintz
with a spatula and cook on second
side. Throw away first blitz—it's
too oily. Do not add any more oil
to the pan. Stack blintzes on clean
towel.
Fruit Filling
2 Jaffa oranges
1 box strawberries
4 tbsp. currant jelly
1 tbsp. wine (optional)
Peel oranges and chop peel into
small pieces. Sinxner peel in boil-
ing water 15 minutes. Drain and
add cooked strawberries and Jaffa
orange sections ( without mem-
branes ). Sp r ink le with wine.
Spread each blintz with red cur-
rant jelly. Fill blintz with 2 tbsp.
fruit filling and roll into shape.
Bake blintzes in greased oven dish
for 15 minutes in 400 degree oven.
Serve with Jaffa Sauce and gar-
nish with Jaffa orange segments.
Jaffa Sauce
Heat to boiling
1 cup water
1 tbsp. margerine
1/4 cup sugar
In separate bowl mix
2 eggs
1/4 cup sugar
Juice of 1 Jaffa orange
1 tbsp. cornstarch (potato starch
if Passover
Combine the two mixtures and
stir over low heat till thickened.
Spoon Jaffa orange sauce over the
hot Jaffa Blintzes. Yields 12.
