THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS
18—Fridai, Mori 15, 1970

ST. LOUIS (JTA)—The Jewish
Employment and Vocational Ser-
vice here is making use of com-
puters in a "Job Bank" program
to help place applicants through a
cooperative arrangement with the
University of Missouri regional re-
habilitation research institute. The
job bank project is a program of
the St. Louis office of the State
Employment Service sponsored by
the U.S. Labor Department. JEVS
official said the program has great-
ly increased the number and types
of job applicants.
Job orders are received at 30
"stations" from all State Employ-
ment Service branch offices and
other manpower programs. The
available job openings are report-
ed daily to the Job Bank where
such job information is recorded
on microfilm tapes the same eve-
ning by computers. Each station
receives the following morning a
tape covering 2,000 to 3,000 job
openings. Orders for jobs are ar-
ranged on the tapes by types of
jobs. Using this data, JEVS work-
ers can quickly locate jobs.

Oneness of Jewish People
Expounded by Israeli

LONDON (JTA) — The theory
that the Jews of Israel and Jews

in the rest of the world comprise
"one people" was propounded by
an Israeli leader here.
Itzhak Heimovitz addressed the
first meeting of a new. organiza-
tion, Herut Hatzohar, attended by
fewer than 100 people.
He said that because of the "one-
ness" of the Jewish people, the

arguments and relationships be-
tween the various political fac-

tions in Israel cannot help being
reflected in the diaspora.
