in the Jaffa Orange Recipe Con-
test, co-sponsored by The Jewish
News.
Here are some more recipes
that have been submitted this week
in the competition, for which first.
prize is a "tummy TV" and second,
a cube radio. A nationally known
certified home economist is judg-
ing the entries.

Use a 5 or 6.inch black iron pan—
Select a spoon which holds enough
batter to fill the bottom of the pan—
Put I Th. of oil in pan and heat till
very hot. Spill out oil and put a spoon-
ful of batter in the pan. Roll the pan
around quickly over a moderate high
heat and spill out any( excess batter.
When e.iges begin to brown turn blintz
with a sdatula and cook on second side.
Throw away first blintz—it's too oily.
DO not add any more oil to the pan.
Stack blintzes on clean dowel.

Jaffa Orange Recipe Contest Closes Today

.

Mrs. C. Gaines, 20531 Plainview,
suggests a dip, a candy, a garnish
and two cakes, all made with Jaffa
oranges.

" AIRS. GAINES'
ORANGE CHOCOLATE FLNGER DIP
Scrub Jaffa oranges to remove any
wax or Preservative. Use one orange
for each person. Score a circle around
the top and the bottom peel of each
orange and then score down the sides
several times. Serve Jaffa oranges so
prepared on individual plates. When
peeled at the table the floral odor of
the oranges is most pleasant . . and
the peeling activity becomes a con-
versation piece.
Melt chocolate tidbits in a double
boiler. Add t4 cup milk to a pound of
tidbits so that they do not become too
hard when cooled. Serve as a hot dip
at the table. Guests will section their
oranges and dip the sections into tho
hot chocolate. A prepared bittersweet
ice-cream topping may also be used.







Mrs. Samuel Heyman, a former
Detroiter now of San Francisco,
writes that she sampled the fol-
lowing recipe in Israel:

ORANGE JUICE CAKE
1 cup sugar

Rind of two oranges and a lemon
2 eggs
I cup of sweet milk or sour cream
