We Don't Want Money, We Want Mirages—Eban
PARIS—Israel Foreign Minister
Abba Eban, participating in a live
"Questions and Answers" program
broadcast from Jerusalem by
Radio Europe Number One, de-
clared that Israel has no intention
whatsoever to ask for the reim-
bursement of the money paid for
the 50 Mirage jets ordered in
France.
"What we want," said the min-
ister, "is for the application of
the contract we signed with
France after proper, legal nego-

tiations: the delivery of the planes
' themselves."
Asked whether his reply means
that Israel still counts on receiv-
ing the planes, the foreign minis-
ter said "We certainly hope that
i France will implement its con-
' tractural obligations."
The Israeli minister also said
that in the view of the Israeli
government, the Arab states
could sign a peace treaty with
Israel. "To reach this," said
Eban, "we must pass through
three phases: first apply a strict
cease fire, then open negotia-
tions and finally sign a peace
agreement."
The minister also denied the
Ipossibility of negotiating with the
Arab Palestinians, saying that
"negotiations must be conducted !
with those who made war against
us and continue to threaten us to
this day."
He stressed, howeveit, that the
Palestinian Arab community could
Play an important role in bridging
I the differences between Israel and
the Arab states.
