Commodores from the Detroit
River Yachting Association and 15
area yacht clubs were guests at
the Great Lakes Yacht Club's re-
cent annual Commodores Ball in
the Casino Room of the Sheraton
Cadillac Hotel.
Honored were retiring Commo-
dore Herbert Reinheimer and in-
coming Commodore Richard Dib-
ner.

Flags designating their office
were presented to Reinheimer,
Dibner, vice commodore Lionel
Willens, rear commodore Wil-
liam Appel, treasurer Austin
Kanter, secretary Albert Col-
man, fleet surgeon Richard
Hommel, fleet measurer Robert
Ferar and fleet captain Sanford
Rossen.

troiters joined on Tuesday noon, at
a conference at the Engineering
Society, in honoring the 75th anni-
versary of Albert Kahn Associates,
the nationally famous firm of archi-
tects and engineers.
Sol King, president of the firm
(AKA), took note of the event and
expressed gratitude to community
leaders and spokesmen for city
government for taking note of the
event.
A testimonial resolution adopted
by the City Council was presented
to King by Council President Mel
Ravitz and a message from Mayor
Roman Gribbs was read by the
mayor's public relations represent-
ative, Howard Lancour.

Great Lakes Yacht Club, located
at Jefferson and Nine Mile Rds.,
St. Clair Shores, has a member-
ship of more than 130 sailboat and
powerboaters. The club has five
fiberglass Cape Cod sloops for the
use of its members, and sailing
lessons are provided for the novice
sailor.
A summer program of small
boat handling and racing tactics
is available, along with a swim-
ming pool, picnic areas, play-
grounds, dining room and locker
rooms for members and their
guests.
This year the club will host its
fifth annual Great Lakes Yacht
Club regatta for some 250 sailing
members of area yacht clubs and
the Detroit River Yachting Asso-
ciation.
GLYC sailors have captured
many flags and trophies in area
races, and the annual Port Huron
to Mackinac Island sailboat race.
