At the Detroit Pioneer Women's leadership reception dessert
lunches, which was hosted by Mrs. Moe Saslove and resulted in
$41,650 in Israel Bond subscriptions, are (from left) seated: Mrs.

pion, guest speaker; and Mrs. Bernard Kline, award luncheon chair-

Israel Bond chairman and Detroit women's division chairman; Mrs.
Sam Fishman, vice president at large; Mrs. Saslove, special events
chairman; and Mrs. Sam Wasserman, hostess chairman. Flesch de-
clared: "The Suez Canal is much more the border of the Free World
than Berlin. The United States should be aware that Israel is the fo-
cus of the battle the democracies are facing, and if Israel goes, the
whole Middle East will be lost." The leadership reception was in ad-
vance of the annual Pioneer Women's Award Luncheon, to be held
noon Thursday at Cong. Shaarey Shomayim. At the luncheon, Mrs.
Alexander Schreier will be awarded the Woman of Valor Emblem,
the highest award to an Israel Bond volunteer, only given to those re-
sponsible for the sale or purchase of $100,000 in Israel Bonds. Hen
charms will be presented to all women who have earned them through
Feb. 15. A special feature of the luncheon will be the seventh annual
award of an Israel Bond contributed by Mrs. Schaver. All 1970 Israel
Bond subscribers present will be eligible to win it. For luncheon
reservations, call the Israel Bond office, 352-6770.

of the American Jewish Congress
