Achim.

The school building, which
houses the Southfield branch of
the United Hebrew Schools, com-
prises 10 large classrooms and ad-
ministrative offices. The. Beth
Achim UHS branch, newest facility
in the system, has an enrollment
of more than 350. Its staff of teach-
ers is headed by Israel Elpern,
who previously served as princi-
pal of the Esther Berman and
Borman branches in Detroit.

dinner on behalf of Jerusalem's
Shaare Zedek Hospital March 1
at Young Israel Center of Oak-
Woods. Rabbi Swift, a member
of the American Committee for
Shaare Zedek, will help bring to
a close the current local cam-
paign for support to the hospital,
now in the midst of a building
drive. Formerly of London and
Sydney, Australia, Rabbi Swift
is a member of the faculty of
Herzl Institute in New York and
previously was on the faculty of
the Institute of Jewish Studies
in Brooklyn. In Sydney, Rabbi
Swift was a member of the bet
din and the standing committee
on education of the Executive
Committee of Australia and New

have received appeals from lead-
ing rabbis in Israel, including
members of the Knesset, to mobil-
