The 1969 Detroit Israel Bond
Campaign resulted in a total of
$3,325,750 in cash sales, it was an-
nounced by Robert Brody, genera)
chairman of the Detroit Israel
Bond Committee.
This was the highest total for
any year, excluding the Six-Day
War year of 1967, and was $321,000
more than Israel Bond cash sales
for 1968, which totaled $3,004,850.
Thus Detroit maintained its posi-
tion among the leaders of the na-
tion in Israel Bond per capita
-ash sales, said Brody. There also
was an increase of 25 per cent in
the number of Israel Bond pur-
chasers over last year, he said.

resulted in $658,000 in pledges. The
Shaarey Zedek Dinner produced
$631,000 in Israel Bond sales.
A total of $1,642,850 was sub-
scribed in the Israel Bond High
Holy Day Appeals and in related
congregational activities. Adas
Shalom, in the 12th consecutive
appeal by Rabbi Jacob E. Segal,
again was the top congregation
in the nation with $700,000 in sub-
scriptions. Successful advance
dinners at Cong. Beth Abraham,
Beth Achim, Bnai David, Beth
Shalom, Bnai Moshe and Beth
Wilet boosted the totals of the
High Holy Day appeals.
Other highly successful affairs
were the annual reception for De-
troiters in Florida hosted by Mr.
and Mrs. Al Borman; the inaug-
ural dinner-dance sponsored by the
Israel Bond Medical Division; the
dinner-dances of Einstein Lodge
Night, hosted by Detroit. Keidan
and Oakland-Century Lodges of
Bnai Brith; and the Labor Zionist
and landsmanshaften campaign,
which included the Pioneer Wom-
en's luncheon, Pinsker, Odessa,
Berdichev-Keshenev, Zhitomir and
Bereznitzer campaigns.
Other events included the dinner-
dances sponsored by the Furniture
Club of Detroit, Louis Marshall
Bnai Brith Lodge and Alpha
Omega Dental Fraternity.
The Women's Division, under the
chairmanship of Mrs. Morris L.
Schaver, had an active role in the
success of the 1969 Campaign.
Highlights of the division efforts
were the Sponsor Honor Roll
Luncheon in February, the Michi-
gan premiere of the 1969 Israel
Bond Fashion Show in June and
the Wonderful World of Children
Fashion Show and Luncheon in
December.
