Davidoff himself, the owner of
a famous cigar shop in Geneva,
regards it as "a companion, and
a rare one that will never slip
away."
Designed to resemble strikingly
a cigar box, the book authorita-
tively describes "The Know-How
of the Smoker," including definite
rules of cigar etiquette and treat-
ment: ". . . when lighting, the
cigar should be kept around a third
of an inch from the flame . . . A
cigar ought'- 'not be lighted too
quickly or too slowly but evenly,
in small puffs. A successful light I
lays the ground for a regular and
even smoke."

Discussing "Choosing a Cigar,"
Davidoff maintains that "There is
an occasion for each cigar and a
cigar for each occasion:"
"A cigar should fit your mood,

Guerrilla Movement
M.E. Political Force?

BOSTON (JTA) — The Arab
guerrilla movement is emerging as
a political force in the Middle
East with its power and prestige
steadily growing, according to a
report to the Christian Science
Monitor from correspondent Peter
Max S. Mellas in Beirut.
The correspondent reported that
the "feeling is prevalent that pros-
pects for a neaceful settlement in
the Middle East are fast diminish-
ing. Commando spokesmen are
ready to give assurances that theirs
is only a liberating mission and
not a political movement," Mellas
reported. But, he added, "Sea-
soned observers agree that the
commando movement cannot en-
tirely avoid political implications.
These observers also point to the
perils of the commando move-
ment's developing into a leftist
force in the Middle East."
The correspondent noted that in
the view of observers, as a revolu-
tionary movement, "The comman-
dos cannot avoid leftist influences.
Add to this the assistance they
have been receiving from Marxist
nations, the observers say, and one
has the picture in its full magni-
ture, unless the West manages to
change the tide."

Indians on Alcatraz
Get Hanuka Hospitality

SAN FRANCISCO (JTA) —
American Indians who have occu-
pied Alcatraz Island, site of a
former federal penitentiary, par-
ticipated in the celebration of
Hanuka in traditional style, A
boatload of Jewish food was
brought to them by members of
the local chapter of the American
Jewish Congress who kindled a
menora on the island in San Fran-
cisco Bay and recited the Hanuka
blessings.
The Indians are demanding that
the federal government turn the
abandoned island over to them
under a century-old treaty. They
occupied it Nov. 20 but have been
short of food. Dr. Steven Raffin of
the AJCongress said that the
organization decided to extend the
hospitality of the Jewish holiday
season to the Indians.
