- LOS ANGELES (JTA) — The
problems of the Jewish family
with a standard of living based on
a stable income threatened by in-
flation have been cited by an offi-
cial of the Jewish Family Service
of Los Angeles as an example of
the type of modern problems with
which the agency is increasingly
dealing: Harry Rubenstein. JFS
assistant executive director, ex-
plained that the agency seeks to
meet such contemporary chal-
lenges by offering new services
and trying new methods to help
Jewish families solve these prob-
lems.
Other problems stem from the
sexual revolution, more leisure
and the "perplexing" youth cul-
ture. He said the problems of the
generation gap were more severe
than ever before and that the in-
dividual feeling the pinch most is
the middle aged person who "is
being squeezed in his relationships
with both his 'demanding' chil-
dren and his elderly parents." He
called this aspect of modern life
