Fraternal Group's

THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Calls for 'Law and

Leader

Order'

KIAMESHA LAKE, N.Y. (JTA)
—Brith Abraham, a national Jew-
ish fraternal order, opened its
82nd annual convention here with
a call for support of "law and
order" and a denunciation of
racists—black and white—who al-
legedly spread "hatred against
Jews into our colleges."
Louis G. Baiirer, grand master,
warned in a keynote speech that
"the spread of black anti-Semitism
will weaken the capacity of both
groups (Negroes and Jews) in
their fight against the true racists
of our society."
Baurer told the 400 delegates
that Jews have made great con-
tributions to the cause of civil
rights but believe in "law and
order. not in violent demonstra-
tions." He denounced the demands
by some black militants for S300,-
000,000 in "reparations" to be paid
to Negroes, for their suffering, by
white churches and synagogues.
