Whitman Exhibition
An exhibition of manuscripts,
books and memorabilia from the
Charles E. Feinberg collection. in
commemoration of the Walt Whit-
man sesquicentennial, will be
opened in the Great Hall of the
Library of Congress in Washington
this afternoon.
A reception will mark the open-
ing of the exhibition to be known
as "Walt Whitman (1819-1969)—
The Man and The Poet." Feinberg
will be honored at the reception.
As I see it. Abe Fortas was the
weakest spot in the record made
by the administration of former
President Johnson. Nomination to
the position of chief justice was
typical of elevating political asso-
ciates of the President. However
failure to obtain confirmation was
not directed at the nominee as
much as it was against the ad-
ministration.
My conclusion is that Abe For-
tas, the Johnson crony, is once
again the goat. The real target of
censure however is the former
President.
