Investments in the sum of $84,-

a dinner of Capital for Israel at
the Sheraton, arranged to enlist
local support for the Israel Tour-
ist Development Corp.
Under the chairmanship of Nor-
man Allan, with Louis Levitan in
Charge of the enrollment, ad-
dresses were delivered by Israel
Minister of Tourism Moshe Kol
and Sam Rothberg, president of
Capital for Israel.
! Describing the importance of
tourism to Israel, indicating that
this industry may soon emerge
the largest in Israel, Kol pointed
to the vast increase in the num-

paredthese figures with those
for 1961, when there were 252,-
000 visitors who spent $50,000,-*

Kol stated that many people, in
defiance of El Fatah efforts to
destroy Israel's tourist industry by
injecting fears, now insist on
traveling on El Al planes.

investments in the new tourist pro
ject. He stated that the jumbo jets
that are being placed in operation
are presenting a challenge to Is-
rael and he stated:
"The problems posed by the

Rothberg told of the manner in
which a responsive American
Jewish community meets the
challenge and declared that the
progress registered by Israel not
only is continuing but is increas-
ing.
Rothberg told of the new under-
takings in Israel in the establish-
ment of hotels, in advancing the
services for tourists, and he de-
scribed the new educational pro-
grams in Israel which already pro-
vide free high school education for
the first two years. He said that
before long secondary education
will be made totally free for all
Israelis, thus elevating the educa-
tional standards.
