The "Life Brigade" of the De-
troit Metropolitan Chapter, Na-
tional Hemophilia Foundation, will
begin . its campaign May 12, with
thousands of volunteers in the area
conducting a door-to-door solicita-
tion drive to raise funds for the
foundation.
Mrs. Florence Lebowitz, 18919
Heyden, is the office supervisor
responsible for recruiting the
volunteers.
Hemophilia is caused by a de-
fective coagulant in the blood.
The bumps and bruises of ordi-
nary childhood living can start
uncontrolled bleeding for vic-
tims of hemophilia.
To discover the cause, to find a
control of the disease and work
toward a possible cure, the Hemo-
philia Foundation supports a na-
tional research program. Most of
the money raised by the "March
of the Life Brigade" supports local
services for victims of hemophi-
lia.
