Raleigh House Sold;
Operations Unchanged

Raleigh House has been sold to
Interstate United Corp. of Chicago
for stock worth more than $2,000,-
000, it was announced last week-
end. No changes in the present
operations of Raleigh House are
planned, however.
The Chicago company has opera-
tions in 35 states including public
restaurants and institutional feed-
ing programs.

Lord Dudley was one of the most
absent-minded men I think I ever
met in society. One day he met me
in the street, and invited me to
meet myself. "Dine with me today;
dine with me, and I will get Sydney
Smith to meet you." I admitted
the temptation he held out to me,
but said I was engaged to meet
him elsewhere. -Sydney Smith.

carried an effigy of one of the
doomed men hanging - a figure
made of papier mache that had
served as a Haman in a happier,
more joyous parade last Purim.
There were no smiles last Frid6,
no noisemakers, no dancing.
The messages on the signs re-
vealed why the students had cut
their afternoon classes to travel
into the middle of the business-
man's downtown to make their
voices heard: "Genocide-an Inter-
nal Affair?"; "Private Trial-Pub-
lie Hanging"; "Iraq: a 20th Cen-
tury Salem?"; "14 Hanged - the
Crowd Cried for More!"
Et-Gar, which numbers close to
70 members, was formed three
weeks ago by students with concern
for Israel and with hopes of -com-
bating Arab propaganda.
One leader of the group, David

By PAM SHRIMAN
In an age of frequent student sit-
ins and demonstrations, a proces-
sion of sign-toting teen-agers at
Kennedy Square on a mid-after-
noon Friday is not an extraordinary
sight.
But there was something special
about the protest in the square last
Friday.
The newly formulated group of
high school students, Et-Gar-along
with several adults and collegiates
-was not demanding student pow-
er but was condemning the Jan.
27 hanging of 14 Iraqis, nine of
them Jews, in Iraq.
The protesters marched in sol-
emn silence on the sidewalk be-
