Dr. Zweig "America's Criti-
cal Social Problems as an Arena for
the New Anti-Semitism." Stanley H.
Lowell, national vice president of
American Jewish Congress and co-
chairman of its commission on in-
ternational affairs, will focus on
"Israel, the Middle East Crisis and
the New Anti-Semitism."
The program honors the 50th an-
niversary of American Jewish Con-
gress and the chartering of De-
troit's new Northwest Chapter of
AJC.
Dr. Zweig, formerly on the
Wayne State University faculty,
is prominent in the fields of so-
cial planning and community or-
ganization as both author and
consultant. , -
Lowell, an at-
torney, served
from 1961 to 1965
as chairman of
New York City's
commission on
human rights and
wrote the law
brief of the Amer-
ican Civil Liber-
ties Union which
resulted in out-
lawing the "white
primary" inTexas
in 1944. He was
an instrumental

Israel Dialogue sponsored by
AJCongress in 1962.
Harley M. Selling is president of
the Michigan Council of A.TCon-
gress, and Ralph Levy is president
of the new Northwest Chapter.

A young Detroit native serving
as a captain in the U.S. Army
Medical Corps in Vietnam has
been awarded the silver star for
gallantry in action last June.
Cpt. Paul M. Gold, son of Mrs.
Rose Gold of Santa Maria Ave.,
recently returned from Vietnam
and is finishing his final eight
months' army duty in the sur-
geon's office in Ft. Sheridan, m.
In September, he and his wife plan
to return here, where he will re-
sume general practice in the field
of osteopathic surgery.
The medal citation by Brig. Gen.
Charles Cantrell, and by direction
of the President, cited as follows,
the reason for the award as fol-
lows:
"Captain Gold distinguished him-
self by gallantry in action involv-
ing conflict with an armed hostile
force on 28 June 1968 serving as
squadron surgeon with the 1st
Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry
Regiment, in the Republic of Viet-
nam.
"On this date, Troop A was con-
ducting a mounted sweep operation
through a known enemy area when
it was suddenly attacked by a Com-
munist force of unknown size. Two
vehicles detonated mines and were
totally disabled, every medical aid-
man in the troop was wounded and
the troop was under an intense vol-
ume of enemy small arms, auto-
matic weapons and antitank rock-
et fire when Captain Gold arrived
at the scene.
"Upon reaching the area, Captain
Gold, totally disregarding his own
safety, leaped from his helicopter
and ran across a minefield through

Law School, has had a distinguish-
ed career of public services as
consultant to the Senate Committee
on Banking and Currency, as gen-
eral counsel for the National Hous-
ing Authority, as adviser to the
Senate Postwar Committee. He is
at present chairman of the Confer-
ence on Economic Progress. He
has made detailed studies of Is-
rael's economy and is a leading
authority on her growth and de-
velopment.

for Gov't. Confidential
Information furnished by an
alien in making his annual address
report to the government is confi-
dential.
According to Walter A. Sahli,
district director of the Detroit Im-
migration and Naturalization Serv-
ice office, the information fur-
nished by aliens in reporting their
addresses has been declared con-
fidential by statute.
These reports must be submitted
during January each year by all
aliens in the United States, with
a few exceptions. Forms are avail-
able at airy post office or office of
the Immigration and Naturaliza-
tion Service.

"Captain Gold's unwavering de-
votion to duty, courage and disre-
gard for his personal safety while
under hostile fire were in keeping
with the highest tradtions of the
military service and reflect great
credit upon himself, his unit and
the United States Army."
The young osteopathaic physician
did his internship at Zieger/Bots-
ford Hospitals in 1966.
