engagement of their daughter Su-
san Terry to Sidney Lawrence
Hantler, son of Mr. and Mrs. David
Hantler of W. 10 Mile Rd., South-
field.
Both the prosceptive bridegroom
and Miss Marrich are seniors at
the University of Michigan.
A June wedding is planned.
Goldfaden Cantata
Chosen for Concert
of Folk Chorus
"Rozhinkes mit Mandlen" (Rai-
sins and Almonds), a cantata by
Avron Goldfaden, will be featured
work at the annual Mid-Winter
Concert of the Detroit Jewish Folk
Chorus directed by Harvey Schreib-
man, 8 p.m. Sunday at the Jewish
Center.
Cantor Harold Orbach will be
soloist with the chorus, which also
will present contemporary Yiddish,
English and Hebrew folk music.
Tickets will be available at the
box office the evening of the per-
formance.

Morris Karbal, communal lead-
er and philanthropist, has been
named chairman of the Detroit
Committee for the Greater Semin-
ary, guiding efforts in support of
the Jewish Theological Seminary
of America.
Karbal was recently named a
member of the Seminary's board
of overseers and is a trustee of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek. He also is
affiliated with Cong. Beth Achim.
He serves on the board of direc-
tors of the North
Detroit Genera I
Hospital, is a di-
rector of the
Jewish Home for
the Aged, patron
of the Detroit
Symphony Or-
chestra, and pat-
ron of the Zionist
Organization of 0
America. Karbal
Particularly concerned with the
cause of education, Karbal serves
as vice president of the Hillel and
Akiva day schools and is affiliated
with the Yeshivath Beth Yehuda
and Young Israel. He is ambassa-
dor for Yeshiva University, co-
chairman of the Detroit Commit-
tee for Bar-Dan University and a
sponsor of the Hebrew Univer-
sity's Center of Pharmaceutical
Sciences.

of World War II and has been ac-
tive in many community and PTA
groups including Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, University of
Michigan Alumni Association, sec-
retary of the Accountants Guild,
American Institute of Certified Pub-
lic Accountants and the Foundation
of the Jewish National Fund.
