Weil-Frankel Nuptials Hausers Will Join Other Leading MDs
Said at Temple Beth El With Their Wives as Bond Fete Hosts

Linda Lee Frankel and Larry.
Steven Well exchanged wedding
vows in a ceremony Sunday at
Temple Beth El. Rabbi Morton M.
Kanter officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs.
Barden Kelly of Crystal Lake, El.,
and Mr. Herman H. Frankel of
Bloomfield Shore Dr., Orchard
Lake. Mr. Well is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Rolfe Well of Cedarbrook
Rd., Birmingham.
The bride wore an A-line gown
of peau de soie with attached
train. The gown featured peau de
soie bows with seed pearls on
the skirt, bodice and sleeves of
Alencon lace and a stand-out col-
lar. The bell sleeves had match-
ing bows at the elbow. A lace
pillbox held her long mantilla
appliqued in lace. She carried a
bouquet of lilies of the valley.
Peggy Hawkins was maid of
honor. Bridesmaids were Cynthia
Davies, Mary Hawkins, Rebecca
Runquist of Big Rapids, and
Levonne Volk of Chatham, N. J.
. Mark Hughes Jr. served as best
man. Ushers were Jerry Goldman,
Ronald Well of Berkeley, Mark
Manhoff and William Thomas.
Alan P. Kitzens was ring bearer
and Lisa Marceau was flower girl.
The newlyweds will live in Colo-
rado Springs where Mr. Weil is
stationed at Ft. Carson; a winter
honeymoon to Aspen is planned.

A leadership luncheon for doc-
tors and their wives at which Adm.
Shlomo Erel, commander of the
Israel Nayy, will be guest of honor
and principal speaker, will be held
noon Wednesday
at the Town and

Country Club.
Dr. I. Jerome
Hauser, former
chief of staff of
Sinai Hospital,
will be toastmas-
ter. Dr. Louis L.
Kazdan will serve
as luncheon chair-
man. Dr. Hauser:
Hosts at the luncheon will be the
presidents of the three Jewish
medical societies and their wives,
including, Dr. Elie C. Aboulafla,
president of the Maimonides Medi-
cal Society and Mrs. Aboulafla;
Dr. David Jacknow, president of
Phi Lambda Fraternity and Mrs.
Jacknow; and Dr. Harold A. Robin-
son, president of Phi Delta Epsilon,
and Mrs. Robinson.
A cocktail reception will precede
the luncheon, on behalf of Israel
Bonds.
Dr. Hauser, who has been a
member of four UJA national mis-
sions to Israel and who just re-
turned from his latest, is on the
board of governors of the Jewish
Welfare Federation, former chair-
man of the professional division of
the Allied Jewish Campaign and of
the Detroit Service Group, and is
pre-campaign chairman of the pro-
fessional division this year.
A graduate of the University of
Michigan Medical School, he
served on the faculty at U. of M.
and is now clinical professor of
otalaryngology at the Wayne
State University Medical School.
He was chairman of the eye, ear,
nose and throat department at
Sinai Hospital from the time of
its founding until this year, and
he is also attending surgeon at
Harper Hospital.
Mrs. Hauser served as president
of Detroit Chapter of Hadassah
and is past president of the Wom-

JCCouncil Backs Probe
in Local Police Beatings for Navy Commander

In letters to Detroit's mayor and
police commissioner, the Jewish
Community Council called for a
thorough investigation of the inci-
dent which occurred at the Vet-
erans Memorial Building on the
evening of Nov. 1.
The incident involved the beat-
ing of several teen-agers who were
attending a dance at the Veterans
building. Off-duty Detroit police
officers were involved in the beat-
ings the later probe report con-
firmed.
In its letter to Police Commis-
sioner Johannes Spreen, the Coun-
cil urged that the full resources of
the commissioner's office be used
in a complete investigation of the
incident.
The letters, sent by Council
Executive Director Walter E.
Klein, called the incident a "shock-
ing affair" and noted that the
Council was particularly disturbed
over press reports that off-duty
police officers were involved.

Drs. Joseph 0. Grant, Sheldon
Mintz and George A. Rosin will
co-host a leadership reception on
behalf of Detroit Alumni Chapter
Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity 8
p.m. Wednesday at the Town and
Country Club.
Dr. Jason. A. Goode, president of
the chapter, said the guest of honor
and principal speaker will be Rear
Adm. Shlomo Erel, commander of
the Israel Navy.
The reception is in advance of
the Israel Bond champagne dinner-
dance to be sponsored by Alpha
Omega Dec. 14 at Cobo Hall. Dr.
John Mames is chairman of the
dinner-dance committee, and Dr.
Eric Billes is associate chairman.
The committee includes Dr. Nor-
_man Segal, president-elect; Dr.
Bruce Billes, immediate past presi-
dent; and Dr. Leo Shipko, regent.
The Detr )it Women of Alpha
Omega, lit aded by Mrs. Murray
Shekter, is joining in the affair, a
first for th, fraternity.

Sinai hospital board of trustees
has appointed to the board of trus-
tees of Shapiro School of Nursing
Dr. Gertrude Gass, president;
Bertha Robinson, vice president;
Mrs. Irvin Hermanoff and Mildred
Gottdank, secretaries; and Lawr-
ence Michelson, treasurer.
Continuing to „serve as members
on the school's board of trustees
are Mrs. Morris Adler, Herbert
Aronsson, Mrs. Herbert Blumberg,
Katherine Faville, Mrs. Joseph
Fenton, Mrs. Meryl Fenton, David
Kreger, Mrs. Julian Krolik, James

Meanwhile, three staff members
of Sinai Hospital have been ap-
pointed to new positions on the fac-
ulty of Wayne State University's
school of medicine.
Dr. Herbert A. Ravin, chief of
the division of medicine at Sinai
Hospital, has been appointed full
professor in the school's depart-
ment of medicine. Dr. I. Jerome
Hauser, associate chief of the divi-
sion of eye, ear, nose and throat,
is now clinical professor in the de-
partment of otolaryngology. Dr.
Paul A. Goodman, division of
laboratories, joins the faculty as
instructor in the department of
pathology.
The appointments were an-
nounced by Dr. Morton Levitt, as-
sociate dean of Wayne State Uni-
versity School of Medicine.
