Moshe Dayan's Son Among Notable
-New Stars on Hollywood's Film Sets
HOLLYWOOD—Joseph E. Levine
who previously produced three mo-
tion pictures from the peniof novel-
ist Harold Robbins, "The Carpet-
baggers," "Nevada Smith" and
"Where Love Has Gone," now is
involved in two other story prop-
erties of the same author. "The
Adventurers," a coproduction with
Paramount Pictures, goes before
the cameras Aug. 12 in Venice,
Italy, with interiors to be photo-
graphed at Rome's Cinecitta Stu-
dios. The picture, to be directed
by Lewis Gilber (of "Alfie" fame),
is designed to contrast the deca-
dent way of life of the interna-
tional jet set with the poverty of
an emerging South American re-
public. The second phase of film-
ing resumes in Colombia in Dec-
ember, after one week of exteriors
in New York. The Colombian gov-
ernment has offered full coopera-
tion for the three-month location
period which concludes in March.
The country's artillery and tank
forces will participate in the revo-
lution sequence to be staged for
the movie in Bogota and Carte-
gena. Yugoslavian actor Bekim
Feymu portrays the central char-
acter of "Dax" with a learned
mid-Atlantic English accent.
While Paramount releases "The
Adventurers," Robbins' next for
Levine will be distributed by the
producer's own Embassy Pictures
Corp. "Stiletto," a story of the in-
ner workings of an international
crime syndicate, from Robbins'
book that sold 2,000,000 copies,
begins production later this month
on location in Las Vegas, Miami
and New York, with Bernard
Kowalski directing and Alex Cord
starring as Count Cardinali. Cord
recently portrayed Kirk Douglas'
younger brother in "The Brother-
hood," Martin Rift's picture deal-
ing with the Mafia of today.
As previously announced, Le-
vine's screen comedy, "A Nice
Girl Like Me" went before the
cameras last month with Barbara
Ferris (of "There's a Girl in My
Soup") in the leading role, with
the studio local switched from
London to Paris.
