Detroiters Will Rally for Polish Jewry Sunday

THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

Congressman William S. Broom-
field of Oakland County and Mon-
roe Sheinberg, national executive
director of the Jewish • War Vet-
erans, will address a protest rally
on behalf of Polish Jewry 2 p.m.

Sunday at the Jewish Center. The
_rally has been developed under
auspices of the JewiSh Commu-
i ty Council.
:Council President Lawrence Gu-
ow announced that organizations
and interested individuals will be
asked to sign and help cliculate
petitions denouncing the current
anti-Semitic wave in Poland and
calling upon the U.S. government
to register its protest with the
Polish government.

Northland

In a previous Community Coun-
cil communication forwarded to
the U.S. State Department, Coun-
cil called for the withdrawal of
the "most-favored nation" priv-
ileges enjoyed by Poland. Petitions
will be available at the rally.
In addition to Congressman
Broomfield and Sheinberg, partici-
pants in the rally include Cantor
Louis Klein of Cong. Bnai Moshe
and a color guard from the Mich-
igan Department of the Jewish
War VeteranS.

Sheinberg has served as national
director of JWV since 1964. Prior
to this appointment, he served for
more than two decades as director
of the New York regional office
of the Anti-Defamation League.
The community is asked to at-
tend.

Col. David "Mickey" Marcus, who
was killed in action on the road
to Jerusalem during the Israel
