American-Israel Chamber
of Commerce Moves

NEW YORK — The American-
Israel Chamber of Commerce, Inc.,
comprised of leaders of banking
and industry in the United States
and Israel, has moved to larger
quarters to meet its expanded pro-
gram and services.
Max Ratner of Cleveland, presi-
dent, said the move, which oc-
curred on May 10, will help the
Chamber serve the business and fi-
nancial community in increasing
trade and understanding between
the United States and Israel.
The new headquarters of the
Chamber, founded in 1953, will be
at 11 E. 44th St., New York 10017.

was married recently to Robert
Joel Bazell, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Norman I. Bazell of Plainview,.
L.I., at Temple Beth El. The cere-
mony was performed by Rabbi
Shelly Waldenberg of Windsor.
The couple is residing in Detroit.
The bride wore a gown of satin
with a cathedral length veil of
Brussels rose pointe lace. She car-
ried a prayer book with two
orchids.
Aldonna Rickmers was her sis-
ter's maid of honor. The brides-
maids were Martha Rickmers, an-
other sister of the bride, and Paula
Bazell, sister of the bridegroom.
Best man was Mark Bazell, brother
of the bridegroom. Head ushers
were Barry Schultz and Fred Ro-
senberg.

A welcome dessert is Tipsy
Cake, so named because of the
liquor with which it is topped. It
had never quite achieved the dis-
tinction of becoming a Purim or
Simchas Torah dessert, but it is
nevertheless popular with the Jew-
ish housewife.

Chicken Chow Mein
A 4 or 5 lb. chicken stewed
2 tablespdons of oil or chicken fat
1 1/2 cups of sliced onions
2 cups of sliced celery
1 /2 lb. mushrooms, sliced
1 /2 cup of minced scallions (optional)

can of bean sprouts (optional)

cups of chicken soup
2 tablespoons of cornstarch
3
tablespoons of soy sauce
1 /2
teaspoon of paprika
1 can of chow mein noodles
(optional) crisped in oven
1 lb. boiled rice
toasted almonds (optional)
Saute vegetables except bean sprouts
lightly in oil about two minutes. Dilute
cornstarch in 2 cups of chicken stock,
add to above and cook until it thickens.
Add 2 lower quarters and I upper quar-
ter of chicken cut into one-inch cubes,
soy sauce and bean sprouts and cook
- for one minute. Stir thoroughly and
serve over hot boiled rice and garnish
with the white meat of the fourth
quarter of chicken cut into strips,
crisp fried noodles and chopped
toasted blanched almonds.
Tipsy Cake
Soft Custard
4 egg yolks lightly beaten
V2 cup of sugar
2 cups of scalded milk
1 /2 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring
salt to taste
Stir the salt and sugar into the egg
yolks. Add the scalded milk gradually.
Cook above in a double boiler over hot
water until mixture coats the spoon.
Stir constantly. Remove from double
boiler, add flavoring and refrigerate
until needed.
Take two layers of slightly stale
sponge cake and lightly sprinkle with
wine, brandy or whisky. Put any kind
of jelly between layers and cover
same with above custard. If preferred,
flavor custard with liquor instead of
vanilla. Put custard between layers
and on top of same. Garnish cake with
1 cup of almonds, blanched, split and
toasted. Refrigerate cake overnight.
