Yeshiva U. Educator Guest at Borman !Brunch;

Dr. Alvin I. Schiff, associate pro-
fessor of education and chairman
of the department of religious edu-
cation at Ferkauf Graduate School
of Yeshiva University, will address
a brunch tendered by Mr. and
Mrs. Abraham Borman, 11 a.m.,
May 19, in the Penthouse of North-
land Towers, West Building, South-
field.
Dr. Schiff's visit precedes the
"Bar Mitzvah Year"-13th annual
dinner of the Detroit Friends of
Yeshiva University, to be held May
28 at Cong. Shaarey Zedek, an
occasion honoring Morris Karbal,
who will receive the university's
Distinguished Service Award.
Borman, a member of the board
of trustees of Yeshiva University,
permanent chairman of Detroit
Friends is acting as host of the
dinner, so that the total proceeds
will be contributed to the univer-
sity.
David P. Zack is chairman of
the event, with David Pollack as
co-chairman and David Goldberg
as treasurer.
Martin Agronsky, CBS televi-
sion and radio Washington cor-
respondent, will be principal
speaker.

1965, Dr. Schiff served as day
consultant to the Jewish Education
Committee of New York. He com-
pleted his undergraduate work at
Yeshiva University and his grad-
uate work at Yeshiva and Colum-
bia Universities. He holds a He-
brew Teacher's diplom a, BA,
MA and PhD legrees. A prolific
writer and researcher, Dr Schiff is

author of "The Jewish Day School
in America," as well as a number
of other books, monographs, arti-
cles and teacher manuals. From
1959 to 1965 he served as editor of
the "Teacher's Guide to World
Over Magazine" and is presently
the managing editor of the Jewish
Education quarterly.
Active on the national and inter-
national educational scenes, Dr.

in American Education.
During the Fall of 1967, Dr.
Schiff was commissioned a Ken-
tucky Colonel and on March 31,
1968, he was awarded the coveted
Bernard Revel Memorial Award by !
the Yeshiva College Alumni Associ-
ation for outstanding achievement
in Education.
A native Bostonian, Dr. Schiff
resides with his wife and daughters
in Oceanside, New York, where he
is an active communal leader. In
addition to being president of the
Jewish Community Council of
Oceanside, he founded and was
first chairman of the Oceanside
Jewish Forum, an inter-organiza-
tional program of Jewish' culture.
