CURFEW was vitally nec-
essary . . . and even though
restaurant and nitery owners lost
a veritable fortune during the days,
We are .certain that as good
citizens, they were in direct accord
with the edicts directed to prevent
any trouble . . . It is with great
pride that the .owners are saluted
for their TOO percent cooperation
in all phases for the benefit of
their customers and help.
RECOMMENDED FOR . . . good
food, good service. good entertain-
ment and reasonable prices . .

DO YOU SUNDAY morning
bagel and lox fanciers know that
the official American name for
bagel is "Water doughnut?"
HARD TO BELIEVE, but this
July will be 14 years since Bernie
Litt and William Kohlbeck took
over as the new owners of Brothers
Delicatessen on Livernois . . . and
changed the name to Billy's ...
Bernie was a salesman for King
Coffee for eight years, and Wil-
liam, who has since passed away,
was restaurant and catering man-
ager at the Barium Hotel for 11
years.

NEW SPOT ON E. Eight Mile
Rd. is one of many to come . . .
Called Robee's, with only about
11 seats indoors and a couple of
picnic tables outdoors, but lots of
room for cars ... . We thoroughly
enjoyed the delicious 69c roast
beef sandwich . . . and the yum
yum white horseradish sauce . . •
It's owned by Elias Bros of Big
Boy fame.

put a dinner in his mouth and
out comes a speech." . Jessel
snapped right back with, "I want
to call attention to your toast-
master, who is also unusual. You
have only to put a speech into his
mouth—and - out comes your
dinner."
JESSEL MAY BE a very
wealthy man, still he doesn't show
it with his unassuming manner and
cordial warmth . . He has a
huge income, but about 41 relatives
seem to live on it . . . One day,
says Jessel, his Uncle Raphael
went too far . . . "So," said the
uncle, "I see you got on a fine
new necktie, you loafer! Me you
won't even buy a grand piano!"
