Music of 3 Israelis
Given to Library Here

Tel Aviv music publisher Dr.
Peter Grandewitz has presented
the Detroit Public Library with
three compositions written by Is-
raelis.
The composers, whose work was
performed at a recent concert of
contemporary music at the library,
are Paul Ben-Haim, a native of Ba-
varia, who is considered Israel's
foremost composer; Yizhak Bar-
sam, born in Vienna and living in
Israel since 1939; and Habib Tou-
ma. an Israeli Arab born in Naza-
reth and a graduate of the Tel Aviv
Academy of Music.
st work, "Canzonetta,"
is for piano, and Barsam's "En-
cores"
cores" for horn and bassoon. Tou-
ma uses Arab tunes as the base
for his music.
