Golda Meir to Speak Here at Dinner Honoring Emma Schaver

Golda Meir, Israel's former foreign minister and former ambassador to Soviet Russia,
will be the guest speaker at the Emma Schaver testimonial dinner on Nov. 7 at Cobo Hall.
The affair will be on behalf of Israel Bonds.

Mrs. Meir will present the Israel government's position in the aftermath of the Six-Day
War and on the many problems facing Israel in its efforts to obtain a permanent peace with
the Arabs.

The entire Detroit Jewish community is being invited to join in honoring Emma Schaver
for her life-long service to the American community, to the Jewish people, to the State of
Israel and to humanity.

Mrs. Schaver is the chairman of the Detroit Israel Bond Women's Division, is a leader
in many humanitarian causes, and she and her family have sponsored many projects in Israel.
She was one of the "36 Lamed Vovniks" who founded the Truman Peace Foundation in
Jerusalem. Just after the end of the Six-Day War, she headed the world Zimrya Choral
Festival and sang "Yerushalayim Shel Zahav" on Mr. Scopus before an audience of thousands.

Concert singer, artist and philanthropist, Emma Schaver has been a great force in the
cultural life of Detroit and has heartened and encouraged musicians, artists and writers of
all faiths. She has been especially interested in education and in the future of Jewish youth.
