Maas and Prentis Gifts Totaling
$500,000 Given Temple Beth El

Temple Beth El announced two
gifts totalling $500,000 toward the
construction of a religious school
and chapel on its site at Telegraph
and 14 Mile Roads in Bloomfield
Township.
One of the gifts was given by
B. L. Maas for the Maas Family
Memorial Chapel. A member of
Beth El for 46 years, Maas' con-
tribution was $250,000.
The other gift of $250,000 was

made by the M. L. Prentis Family
toward the building of a religious
school in memory of Jimmy Pren
tis Morris, Wally P. Straus and
Paul M. Shapiro. A member of
Beth El for 45 years, Prentis is
the retired treasurer of General
I Motors Corp.
Lester J. Morris, son-in-/Aw of
M. L. Prentis and a temple trus-
tee, stated that the Prentis gift was
in the form of a "challenge grant,"

Aubrey H. Ettenheimer, presi-
dent of Beth El, said that the 28-
acre site in Bloomfield Township
was purchased by the congrega-
tion three years ago for the con-
struction, in stages, of a complex
o fedifices, including a religious
school, chapel, social hall and sanc-
tuary .
Before proceeding with the cam-
paign for the new Temple Beth
El, approval by the general mem-
bership is required at a congrega-
tional meeting, Ettenheimer said.
