Israel Delivers Body of Infiltrator
to Jordan After Clash on Border
ALFIE isn't.
Neither is GEORGY GIRL nor
A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS.
TEL AVIV (JTA)—Israeli offi-
cials handed over to Jordanians
Sunday the body of a Jordanian
infiltrator who was killed last
week in a clash between a group
of infiltrators and Israeli heli-
copter troops.
A second member of the guer-
rilla group was killed inside Jor-
danian territory in the running
battle between the Israeli troops
and the infiltrators. The saboteurs
blew up a water tank at Arad six
miles inside Israel, the deepest
penetration by infiltrators to date.
One of the two Israelis wounded
in the clash has left the hospital
and the other is recovering. Is-
raeli officials disclosed that the
first contact with the marauders
was made by helicopter and that
the guerrillas shot at the craft,
thus revealing their whereabouts.
Academy Award nominations between them, and we'll match
them, nomination for nomination, against ALL Oscar contenders,
including the big bad Woolf.
We believe A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS will beat out Virginia
Woolf for the Oscar as Best Film of the Year, and that Michael
Caine (ALFIE) and Lynn Redgrave (GEORGY GIRL) will defeat
Burton-Taylor for the Best Actor and Actress awards. .
You may not agree with us, but that's part of the fun in the
annual Oscar-guessing game.
If you plan to watch the Academy Awards telecast April 10, you'll
want to see the major contenders beforehand. Make a note:
After the water tank ex-
plosion, an Israeli helicopter was
ordered to pursue the infiltra-
tors. While flying over the wild-
erness in the Judean Hills area,
it was fired on. The helicopter
landed and soldiers jumped out
and began shooting, killing one
Arab.

5 Summer Cruises
to Expo Set by Zim
The Zim Lines announced that
the 25,300-gross-ton flagship, the
SS Shalom, will make a series of
five 10-day cruises from New York
to Expo '67 this summer, all of
them including a 48-hour or longer
stop-over at Montreal where the
ship will serve as hotel while her
passengers visit Canada's Expo '67.
Sailing dates will be July 28,
Aug. 8, Aug. 18, Aug. 28 and Sept.
8, according to Avner Mono r,
executive vice president of the
American-Israeli Shipping Co.,
Inc., U.S. representatives of the
Zim Lines.
The new schedule brings to
six the total number of cruises
to Canada's World's Fair by the
Israeli luxury liner. This includes
an 11-day cruise from New York
to Montreal on May 20 which
has been sold out for some time.
It is the heaviest schedule of
cruises to Expo of any liner sail-
ing from American ports, Manor
said,
During her cruises to Canada,
the Shalom will serve the Zim
Lines traditional gourmet kosher
cuisine exclusively,
The Zim Lines announced that
the Shalom will sail on her annual
Rosh Hashana cruise to the Med-
iterranean and Israel Sept. 19 in-
stead of on Sept. 11 as previously
scheduled.
The change, reducing the length
of the cruise from 43 to 35 days,
was necessitated by the addition of
the five summer cruises -to Mont-
reaL
The Studio Theatres' current boxoffice champions have 17
the pursuit, crossing over the un-
marked border slightly into Jor-
danian teritory where the second
Arab was killed. Other members
of the intruder group managed to
escape.
The guerrillas carried subma-
chineguns and Russian automatic
rifles. One of the documents found
on one of the dead Arabs was a
passport with several entries in-
dicating recent visits to Syria.
Earlier, an Israel patrol inter-
cepted a group of four Arab
marauders entering Israel from
the Jordanian border near Kfar
Saba. The infiltrators returned to
Jordan territory before the patrol
could open fire. The Arabs left
behind a container filled with ex-
plosives. Israel filed a complaint
with the Jordan - Israel Mixed
Armistice Commission at once.

Syria 'Charges Israel
With Boycotting Talks
UNIVERSAL presents
UNITED NATIONS, N.Y. (JTA)
—Syria accused Israel Sunday of
"paralyzing" the Israeli - Syrian
Mixed Armistice Commission so
that the commission could not
function "due to Israeli obduracy
in boycotting its regular meetings
since 1951 until the present date."
The charges were made in a
letter to the Security Council by
Syria's ambassador, George J.
Tomeh, in answer to an Israeli
complaint, filed March 7. In that
complaint, Israel accused Syria of
responsibility for the suspension
of an extraordinary session of the
commission which was adjourned
after three meeting s, starting
Jan. 25.
According to S y r i a, Israel's
charge in the March 7 complaint
that Syria was responsible for
eight sabotage incidents between
Jan. 28 and March 3 was "decep-
tive."
Bill Introduced to Aid
Alberta Jewish Schools
EDMONTON, Alta. (JTA) —A
bill which, if passed, would enable
grants to Jewish schools by the
province of Albierta, was intro-
duced in the Provincial Legisla-
ture here by the minister of ed-
ucation. There are three Jewish
day schools in Alberta—one in
this capital city and two in Cal-
gary.
There has , been little agitation
among Jews in this province for
provincial grants to Jewish
schools. However, for the last
year, various Protestant groups
have been urging the legislature
to make funds available to pri-
vate schools in the elementary and
secondary levels. The Catholics
here already have separate schools
supported by taxes.
The new bill would make grants
available to all private and paro-
chial schools, -including those un-
der Jewish and Protestant
auspices.
