COMIC MARV WELCH has been
around quite a while tickling the
funny bone of Detroiters and Can-
adians . . . Doesn't like to work
too far from home . . . Played a
long engagement at the Metropole
in Windsor, and left for this side
of the border after many years
away from the hometown ... He's
good ... quick with the wit, versa-
tile in material and sharp when it
comes to grasping a situation
among the audience . . . Mary is
currently giving out with his funny
antics at the Playhouse on Liver-
nois.
NOW AT 24 Karat, "Saucy Syl-
via" Stoun is again wowing the
audience in her inimitable style
. . . After a three-week relaxation
period, Sylvia is back and the
crowds love her.
"IT'S NOT JUST the work I en-
joy," confided the cab driver. "It's
the people I run into."
SINCE SELLING THE Kenwood
Lounge last December, Ralph Chi-
corel has become a full time song
writer, including special material
and commercials . .. His "Stran-
gers In The Night" case is still in
effect ... Ralph's claim is that the
song was stolen from him.
ASK OUR FIVE-YEAR-OLD son,
how the fried chicken is at Uncle
'John's . . . Scott is quite a fan
of this delectable dish, ate a com-
plete dinner all by himself . . .
Was so good, he is already asking

RICHARD MALTBY and his Po-

Cabaret La Boheme of Hotel Pont-
chartrain . . . The smooth dance
sounds of this well-known record-
ing artist are a treat . . . He's
probably one of America's most
desired bands when it comes to all-
around beauty in rhythm.
IN 1783, Reboul, a French inven-
tor, originated the modern type of
round dining table that could be
extended in oval shape to accom-

When seated at the round table,
no one felt hetwas sitting at the

Greek Line Announces
Schedules to Israel

The chances are better than four:
to one for those who sail to Israel
from the United States in 1967 that
it will be aboard the Greek Line's
Olympia or Queen Anna Maria. The
two luxury liners are slated for 17
round-trip voyages between New
York and Haifa this year—close to
80 per cent of all scheduled sail-
ings between the U.S. and Israel.
According to Robert Leibovitz,
vice president of the Greek Line,
special group fares often providing
savings of up to 20 percent as com-
pared with regular rates to Israel
will be offered on nine sailings
through Sept. 25.
Excursion fares are available on
10 sailings through Dec. 4, provid-
ing savings of 15 per cent for pas-
sengers who remain ashore in
Europe and/or Israel for more than
10 days but less than 35 days before
boarding the return voyage to New
York.
The Greek Line has been the
major carrier to Israel for many
years, states Leibovitz, because of
its innovations in providing special-
ized services, top accommodations
and bargain fares.
On request, both the 23,000-ton
Olympia and the 26,300-ton Queen
Anna Maria offer kosher cuisine
from special kitchens supervised by
a "mashgiakh." This service is pro-
vided not only on all trips to Israel,
but on many Greek Line cruises
to the West Indies. Both liners
have synagogues, and a rabbi ac-
companies all voyages to and from
Israel.
A bonus for Israel-bound passen-
gers is a highly popular Hebrew
language course initiated two years
ago. The course is designed to pro-
vide a basic 500-word vocabulary
on the 13 day voyage to Haifa.
