WASHINGTON — Rabbi Israel
Goldstein, world chairman of the
Keren Hayesod, delivered the Sen-
ate's opening prayer Tuesday at
the session marking the eve of the
birthday of George Washington.
In his prayer, Dr. Goldstein, who
is rabbi emeritus of Cong. Bnai
Jeshurun in New York, cited the
eternal contribution of the United
States to freedom of worship and
"to that concept of humanity
wherein religious and spiritual
freedom is inherent in and funda-
mental to the brotherhood of man."
Later Tuesday, Dr. Goldstein
was received by President John-
son.
During the meeting, Dr. Gold-
stein presented the President
with a copy of his book, "A
Century of Judaism in N e w
York."
In his inscription in the book,
Dr. Goldstein referred to Presi-
dent Johnson as a "leader of men
and of nations, architect of the
great society and friend of Israel."

joined in a happy birthday tune
. . . Then the three wives sang to
their hubbys, and the boys, also
