Importance of Yiddish Emphasized
in Koslovsky's Recorded Narration
The movement instituted by the .
Bnai Yiddish Society, with head-
quarters at 387 Grand St., New
York, to encourage adherence to
Yiddish and the strengthening of
the language. is explained in a
two-sided LP recording in which
Yitshok Koslovsky, a leader in the
movement, analyzes the importance
of Yiddish.
Koslovsky's impassioned read-
ing points to dangers in over-em-
phasis on Hebrew and to Israel's
dependence on . Yiddish.
He especially warns against as-
similation. declaring that without
Yiddish the identity of Jews is im-
periled and declared that the Jew-
ish people must depend upon Yid-
dish as the major means of assur-
ing survivalism on a most idealistic
plane.
Koslovsky's narration is an in-
teresting account of the role of
Yiddish. It is a strong plea for
pragmatism in approaching the lan-
guage problem.

movement reportedly is growing
