Separatist Leader
Denies His Party
Is Anti-Semitic
OTTAWA (JTA) — Gilles Gre-
goire, the newly elected leader of
Quebec's National Ralliement, a
separatist party, has denied that
his party is anti-Semitic. The
party has been under sharp criti-
cism for several anti-Semitic arti-
cles in its monthly magazine, La
Nation.
Gregoire, in a statement issued
from his House of Commons of-
fice, blamed the controversy on
the press.
He referred specifically to an
article in the August issue, head-
lined, "The Jews Flout Quebec,"
which drew sharp criticism from
the Canadian Jewish Congress.
The article alleged that Quebec
Jews gave so much financial and
other support to Israel that they
- did nothing for Quebec.
He said that the article was
published before he was elected
as party leader and that a five-
man editorial board had been
named to review all material in
the periodical. He said the con-
troversial article was "a letter
which slipped into the editorial
page by mistake."
Arab Saboteurs Damage
Israeli Electric Unit
TEL AVIV (JTA) — Israel
lodged a formal complaint with the
Israel-Jordan Mixed Armistice
Commission over a raid from Jor-
dan in which Arab terrorists sabo-
taged an electric transformer. Is-
rael accused Jordan of a breach
of the armistice agreement.
The transformer was knocked
out of action, apparently by ex-
plosives placed by the raiders.
The unit fed power to a water
pumping station four miles west of
the Dead Sea. I s r a e l i trackers
found footprints of two men lead-
ing from the Jordanian border to
the scene and back to Jordan.
Seville Hotel Decor

MIAMI BEACH—A $500,000 re-
decorating job is now under way
at the plush Seville Hotel.
Famed interior designer Jimmy
James, known as a color genius,
designed the interiors for the
Pepsi Cola Building in Miami and
Mount Sinai Hospital. He has won
honors and awards for his designs
both on a local and national level.
According to James, the en-
tire theme of the new decor is
Mediteranean, and many unique
fabrics and designs are being

a leading West German publisher,
were posted on walls here Sunday
and have been distributed to pas-
sersby on main streets.
The posters, signed by the "Com-
mittee for Israel's Dignity," warn
"when the building will be com-
pleted, you will have to guard it
night and day, as there are Jews
who will not tolerate its existence."
Last week, a ministry of educa-
tion spokesman said that a final
decision on the Springer gift, of-
fered for construction and main-
tenance of a special building to
house a library and archives for
the museum, would be taken at the
"cabinet level," and that the mat-
ter would rest until the decision
was made.

Mapam Consents to Israeli
Arms Exports to Germany
TEL AVIV (ZINS)--Prime Min-
ister Eshkol obtained the consent
of the extreme socialist Mapam
and Achdut Avoda to continue
shipments of Israeli-made arms
to West Germany, according to the
well-informed daily Ha'aretz. The
shipments consist of the automatic
"Uzi" rifles which Israel sells to
the German army. At one time
the two socialist parties strongly
opposed David Ben Gurion for
agreeing to send arms to the Ger-
mans, basing their stand on "con-
science.
