'Jew and Philosophy' Theme of Series on Highlights Program

The script material for this ser-
ies was compiled by Rabbi Kanter,
assisted by Mrs. Reuven Frankel
in conjunction with Evelyn Orbach,
program associate of the Jewish
Community Council and producer
of "Highlights."

former teacher of philosophy at
Adelphi College, will act as host of
this series of four programs begin-
ning Sunday.
"Highlights" is a Sunday morn-
ing program presented by the Cul-
ture Commission of the Jewish

war of liberation

commission for the then Prime
Minister, David Ben-Gurion, who
was also Minister of Defense. The
trial, which lasted six months, had
been held almost entirely behind
closed doors.
The three-man Tel Aviv District
Court which had found Dr. Beer
guilty of some counts in the in-
dictment against him, but inno-
cent of others, gave him credit
during sentencing as an important
factor in Hagana, the pre-State

Israel defense corps, and as a man
who "thought he could achieve a
Jewish Community Council and the American Jewish Committee
new mutual relationship with the
foreign power that would benefit
the State of Israel." "But the ac-
cused," added the court, "lost
control of his intentions and be-
came enmeshed in a foreign net-
work, unable either to resist or
retreat."
It was charged that he had
passed on some Israeli plans to a
foreign power which, in turn, trans-
mitted plans for the Sinai cam-
paign of 1956 to Egypt. Egypt,

TEL AVIV—Aryeh Pincus, chair-
man of the Jewish Agency Execu-
tive, disclosed Tuesday that action
was underway on his proposal to
anrrange for an estimated 4,000
Israeli students in the United States
to become active among American
Jewish students and on college
campuses.
Reporting on a visit to France
and the United States, he also said
the Agency's executive committee
on immigration and absorbtion
was working on a number of de-
tailed proposals for rationalizing
procedures for prospective imma-
grants from the United States. He
heads the committee.
