UHS Nursery School
to Hold Open House

"The Sacred Portal," a study of
the mosaics found in the famous
Beth Alpha synagogue in Israel,
has been published by the \ Wayne
State University Press.
The book was written by Ber-
nard Goldman, 18411 Hartwell, as-
sociate professor • of art and art
history at WSU.
Prof. Goldman is primarily con-
cerned with the art and symbolism
of the Beth Alpha mosaics. He in-
terprets the mosaic symbols and
discusses the use of narrative and
symbols in Judaic art, tracing them
back to their earliest sources.

The United Hebrew Schools
Nursery School will hold an open
house for parents and children 3
to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Oak Park
School.
The UHS Nursery is geared to
the needs of the pre-school child
and offers an opportunity for
social and individual growth in a
bicultural atmosphere. Youngsters
are introduced to the rich cultural
aspects of Judaism by learning
holiday customs, songs and games.
Enrollment is now taking place
for September, 1966, and children
3 to 5 may be registered for two;
three or five mornings a week or
five afternoons.
Now in its 16th year, the school
is under the supervision of Mes-
dames Sylvia Handler, Reva Klay-
mer and Emma Leppela and is
licensed by the state of Michigan.

Young ladies model fashions—as shown here—made by students
of the Beth Zeiroth Jerusalem, a project of the Mizrachi Women's
Organization of America, which will hold its central states conference
here May 15-16. Displays of work produced by students of the net-
work of projects operated by Mizrachi Women in Israel will be one
on the highlights of the meeting, it was reported by Mrs. Jacob Gold-
man, conference chairman. Principal speaker at the opening session,
at Beth Aaron Synagogue, May 15, 8 p.m., will be Mrs. Eli Resnik-
off, national president of the organization.
