Study Club SetsChoral Concert
Mrs. Norman Allan, president of
the Music Study Club, invites the
community to the annual Choral
Group Concert,. 8:30 p.m., Tues-
day, at the Detroit Institute of
Musical Art.
Director is Don Frohman, with
Mrs. Rose Bassin Stein as
accompanist and Mrs. George
Bassin chairman. The group
plays at educational institutions
and sometimes hospitals, per-
forming music by the classics as
well as contemporaries, from
major religious works to folk
songs.
The program - this year will fea-
ture pianist Linda Eisenberg
Aptekar, a former student of
Mischa Kottler. She won many
honors as a student at the
National Music Camp at Inter-
lochen. She studied at the Eastman
School of Music and performed in
recital in the East and with such

Room For Patients - of
Ypsilanti Hospital
Zedakah Club played host to 250
patients at Ypsilanti State Hos-
pital Monday, at an open house
celebrating the formal dedication
of a day room refurbished by the
organization.
Zedakah Club contributed over
$4,500 and many months of work
to refurnish the room and provide
such items as fluorescent lighting,
pull-down fixtures, rugs, draperies
and room dividers with planter
boxes for the vast lounge area.
Program chairmen were Mrs.
Al Blumenthal of Southfield
and Mrs. Jack Miller, Detroit.
Members of the club were
present, including in their cele-
bration an observance of Israel's
Independence Day. Entertain-
ment was provided by Margie
Masell and Virginia Sample.
Dr. Alexander P. Dukay, medi-
cal superintendent of Ypsilanti
State Hospital, said that "it is only
with efforts of organizations such
as Zedakah that we are able to
refurbish our institution and make
it a more cheerful place for the
less fortunate mentally ill citi-
zens."

The noted Don Frohman Chorus
will present its 41st annual con-
cert May 15, 8:30 p.m., at the Com-
munity Arts Auditorium, Wayne
State University.
Director Don Frohman has pre-
pared a program of great variety.
Composers whose works will be
heard are Helfman, Wilenski, Drag-
mirov, Heifetz, Enders, Gretchan-
inoff, Weiner, Mille r, Nardi,
Dvorak, Liszt and Frohman.
The guest soloist will be Judith
Berman, violinist, who has ap-
peared with the Iowa Symphony
and the Detroit Scandinavian Sym-
phony. She is assistant concert-
master of the Dallas Symphony, Or-
chestra.
Ten vocal soloists will appear
with the chorus. Pianist Rebecca
Frohman will be accompanist.

dinner, at which an outstanding
woman journalist will receive the
Headliner of the Year Award, and
a coed majoring in journalism will
receive the Lucy Corbett Scholar-
ship.
Also working on the dinner are
area residents, Sharron Uten Zam-
czyk of the advertising department
of the J. L. Hudson Co. and Judy
Jacob, staff writer for the Detroit
News.
