Cecil B. DeMille's spectacular
epic drama "The Ten Command-
ments," begins a "command per-
formance" engagement—the first
since its original record-breaking
run—March 30 at the Palms
Theater.
T h e Paramount presentation,
produced in VistaVision and Tech-
nicolor, will be shown intact and
uncut.
Heading the cast in the drama-
tization of the Book of Exodus are
Charlton Heston as Moses and Yul
Brynner as the Pharoah. Other
stars include Anne Baxter, Edward
G. Robinson, Yvonne De Carlo,
Debra Paget, John Derek, Sir Ced-
ric Hardwicke, Nina Foch, Martha
Scott, Judith Anderson and Vin-
cent Price. More than 25,000
extras were employed for the loca-
tion shooting in Egypt.

Participants in the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new Imperial
Room, Detroit's only kosher restaurant, are (from left) William
Kozin, Mrs. Benjamin Gorrelick, Rabbis Gorrelick, James I. Gordon,

Donin and Irving Schnipper and Lawrence Horowitz.

ground, the DeMille motion plc-
ture traces the story of Moses—
from the time his mother set him
afloat on the Nile, through his
years as a young general in the
Pharoah's army, to his betrayal
and exile and, finally, his de-
liverance of the Israelites and his
receiving of God's Command-
ments.
Sequences were made on Mount
Sinai itself, the shores of the Red
Sea and the same desert sands
that Moses trod.

Danny Raskin's

LISTENING

HOME OF HILDA AND ELMER
RASKIN was a pleasant serene
one until recently. . . . One phone
was enough . . . that is, until it
got so that Elmer insisted a second
one be put in—so he could at least
get in a few of his own calls. . . .
No, the kids had nothing to do
with it. . .. Reason is the Temple
Israel's 15th annual antique and
art fair, March 6, 7 and 8. . . .
Last year showed the canvas and
sculpturing works of 75 artists. ...
This time the last count was
already near the 200 mark, with

more to come from professional
artists. . . . The excited sisterhood
gals will sure deserve a rest after

this one! . . . Hilda is over-all
chairman of the showing which
has certainly boomeranged into
an ultra-top community affair!

WHEN A U OF M CLASSMATE
boasted that over a given week-
end he could accomplish the im-
possible — finish his homework,
spend hours with his girl, have
money left over—Kenny Tartof

begged him to let him in on his
secret. . . . He showed him this
typewritten notice, "BARGAIN!
TWO BABY SITTERS FOR THE
PRICE OF ONE. For reservations
call Howie or Joan."
*
*
GLADYS GOLD WAS doing her
washing in the basement and on
impulse pulled off the dress she
was wearing and added it to the
tubful. . . . Then she saw a big
spider web. . . . Not wanting to get
dust or web in her hair, she put
on the nearest headdress, her son
Gary's football helmet, and went
after it with a broom. . . . At that
moment she heard a knock. . . .
In desperation, Gladys grabbed an
old raccoon coat hanging nearby,
and opened the door. . . . The
gasman gave her a quick look and
went to read the meter. . . . Then
as he left, he said, "Hope your
team wins, lady!"
*
AFTER BOARDING THE
PLANE for New York recently,
Earl preen tells of the loading
platform being rolled away and
entrance door closed. . . . Every-
one waited for the engines to start,
but nothing happened. . . . There
was a commotion as a stewardess
walked briskly down the aisle
from the cockpit, opened the rear
door and shouted, "We have no
captain!" . . . Several minutes
later a harassed, perspiring pilot
made his appearance and the pas-
sengers gave him a round of ap-
plause. . . . As soon as the plane
was airborne, a voice came over
the loudspeaker, "Ladies and
gentlemen, this is your captain
speaking—thanks for waiting!"

It is truth that makes a man

angry.—Italian proverb.
