Israeli Engineers Invent
Revolutionary Turbine to
Get Electricity From Sun

TEL AVIV—The Israeli Associa-
tion of Engineers announced a new
invention which is considered a
revolution in the field of techno-
logy.
Two youthful engineers have
succeeded in creating a turbine
which is able to produce electricity
from sun rays as well as from all
types of salvage material.
According to the information
published, this turbine may be
used for generating electric power
even in the desert. The two in-
ventors, Dr. Zvi Tavor and Yehuda
Branitzky, are confident that their
invention will revolutionize tech-
nology throughout the world.
With the help of this invention,
an automobile will be able to pro-
duce its own energy and dispense
with the use of gasoline. The en-
gineers claim that the invention
will also help to avoid a blackout
such as occurred in New York last
month.

Religious Party Blocks
Eshkol Coalition Efforts ;
Premier Back Home

JERUSALEM—The principal ob-
stacle to Premier Levi Eshkol's
efforts to form a new coalition
government continued Tuesday to
be the National Religious Party's
stand on religious questions.
Eshkol was back home Sunday
after two weeks of hospitalization,
and immediaitely launched into
direct activity toward forming the
new government, necessitated by
the results of the general elections
held on Nov. 2. The present cabi-
net is a caretaker government.

Eshkol was released from
Hadassah - Hebrew University
Hospital last Saturday night,
after spending two weeks re-
cuperating from what the medi-
cal bulletins called "exhaustion."
He had been wearied by the ex-
traordinary activities during the
election campaign.
The first thing he did when he
came home was to light the Hanu-
kah candles. Then he conferred
with Foreign Minister Golda Meir,
receiving from her the latest re-
ports on affairs concerning the
Mapai-Ahdut Avoda alignment.
Sunday morning, he conferred
with Gen. Yitzhak Rabin, chief of
staff of Israel's defense forces,
concerning security problems. Af-
ter that talk, he resumed direct ne-
gotiations, mostly by telephone,
with various party leaders of the
groups he intends to line up in the
new coalition. The premier may
go to a convalescent home to con-
tinue his recuperation next week.
The Premier indicated he might
ask President Shazar for an exten-
sion of his mandate to form a new

cabinet.
The Religious Party leaders
are demanding a cabinet com-
mitment to stop all Sabbath
work at the new port of Ashdod
as well as various concessions
in the field of education. The
Premier held lengthy talks with
Moshe Shapiro and other Reli-
gious Party leaders Monday and
Tuesday.

Shapiro, commenting on the ne
gotiations, said "So far we have
agreed to disagree," but the
Premier indicated he still hoped
that an acceptable compromise
could be found to permit formation
of a new coalition.
Transport Minister Moshe Car-
mel declared in parliament that
the Ashdod port would operate on
the Sabbath whenever it was neces-
sary despite strong Orthodox pro-
tests. He pointed out that this was
the policy now in effect at the

Haifa port.

can Banker."

was in the 146th position and five
years ago in the 410th place. The
rating is based upon the total
amounts of deposits.
